FOR Sprint, not a festivity goes by without a thought for the underprivileged.

This year around, to wrap up the many occasions which are falling in the month of August, it was decided that three major programmes will launched and celebrated under one event, thus the 3 in 1 celebration.

The first event for the day was the launch of Road Safety Campaign where the Director General of Malaysian Highway Authority Dato¡¯ Ir Hj Ismail Md Salleh officiated at the event. Apart from unveiling the special banner, goody bags and flyers with road safety messages were distributed to road users at Damansara Link.

The second part of the programme was prize giving to winners of Merdeka contest launched by Sprint and Litrak some two weeks ago.

The competition requires participants to match pictures and send a picture captured during the black and white era with underlying concept of 1Malaysia in the background.

A total of RM 8900 in cash were given away to the winners.

The first, second and third prizes went to Adzhar Fuad from Rawang, Ismail Abd Mutalib and Radakrishnan a/l Kandiah from Puchong respectively.

The third part of the event was the charity component where 50 children and single mothers from a charity home, Rumah Amal Baitul Kasih in Sg Buloh received new clothes (baju raya) and ‘duit raya’.

During his speech Ismail said he was happy to see three major programmes packaged into a single event to make it grand and more meaningful. “I think this is a great effort to reaching out to the masses and I am especially touched by the charity component”. He added the general public only saw the tolled highways as money collectors when in actual fact there were hundreds of CSR being undertaken by the concessions. This is what we call “giving it back” to the community.

Sprint Chairman Tn Ir. Hj Yusof in his speech said the charity component of the event is undertaken in collaboration with Sprint’s sports club. “In giving we receive happiness and apart from that activities like this give us opportunity to enhance our rapport with the community.”
